BALTIMORE, MD — Sample developer Impact Soundworks released today PEARL Concert Grand for Native Instruments KONTAKT and KONTAKT PLAYER. The sample library features over 14,000 recordings of a pristine Yamaha C7 piano in a concert hall with four mic perspectives, edited and designed for immediate playability and ease of use. PEARL Concert Grand is available now at the introductory price of $99 (MSRP: $119) through April 21st, 2015.

PEARL is the debut piano instrument in the Impact Soundworks catalog, which includes a wide selection of tools for composers ranging from orchestral percussion, world instruments, and guitars, to cinematic synths, electronic effects, and choral sounds. As with all Impact Soundworks libraries, PEARL is “designed with composers in mind”.

“When we first heard this piano in the hall, we fell in love. We had to sample it,” said Andrew Aversa, lead developer at Impact Soundworks. “But recording was just the first challenge. We spent months fine-tuning and tweaking everything to make it sound as sonorous as possible, from the moment you first press a key.”

Recorded and performed by Simon Dalzell, PEARL exhaustive samples all 88 keys via eight dynamic levels, two round robin variations, pedal on & off samples, and both chromatic key and pedal release noises. In total, the library comprises 40 gigabytes of compressed recordings at both 16 and 24-bit fidelity.

Along with its sizable sample pool, PEARL sports an elegant custom KONTAKT interface that gives users full control over mic mixing, routing, global effects, touch sensitivity, tuning, and other “under-the-hood engine features. Advanced users will enjoy customizing velocity curves and using per-channel EQ, stereo, and routing, while busy composers can make use of the dozens of included master, velocity, and tuning presets.

The four distinct microphone perspectives offer substantially different timbres, width, and space, allowing users to shape PEARL to fit the needs of their music. The instrument is thus well-suited for genres ranging from Romantic-era piano solos to modern jazz, warm cinematic cues or dark underscores.

PEARL Concert Grand is available now at Impact Soundworks for a discounted intro price of $99 (list price: $119). For more info, demos, video, and to purchase, please visit:
