NI_Symphony_Series_WoodwindBerlin, June 14, 2016 – Native Instruments today introduced WOODWIND ENSEMBLE and WOODWIND SOLO – the latest additions to NI’s growing SYMPHONY SERIES range of premium scoring instruments. SYMPHONY SERIES – WOODWIND is aimed at all professional composers who need premium sound quality in an easy-to-use design. Each solo instrument and orchestral section was recorded in rich detail and delivers an extensive set of articulations, including special effects, arpeggios, and more. The instruments feature the same, signature interface found on NI’s two previous SYMPHONY SERIES releases. The SYMPHONY SERIES – WOODWIND instruments run in KONTAKT 5 and the free KONTAKT 5 PLAYER and are available now at the NI Online Shop individually and as a specially-priced bundle.

SYMPHONY SERIES – WOODWIND ENSEMBLE delivers the rich, earthy sound of a 36-piece woodwind orchestra comprising flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, and bass wind (contrabassoon and bass clarinet) sections. The inclusion of saxophones makes scoring for contemporary ensemble configurations possible. WOODWIND ENSEMBLE provides 314 articulations including special effects, true legato, and time-adjustable arpeggios – a definitive feature set for scoring in any genre or for any time period. Users can blend up to four discreet mic positions directly from the Mixer interface.

SYMPHONY SERIES – WOODWIND SOLO richly captures the sound of professional concert flute, oboe, Bb clarinet, bassoon, tenor saxophone and contrabassoon soloists. WOODWIND SOLO features 148 articulations, including special effects, flourishes, including true legato for extremely realistic woodwind performance. Composers can seamlessly blend dynamic layers to achieve the natural expressiveness of solo woodwind performances. Like the ensemble instrument, WOODWIND SOLO includes the same easy-to-use, feature-rich interface that has earned the SYMPHONY SERIES its reputation as easy-to-use scoring instruments.

SYMPHONY SERIES – WOODWIND also delivers functionality exclusive to the WOODWIND family of instruments. Each feature contributes to a deeper level of instrumental realism and expressiveness. In addition to the recorded arpeggios, the Arpeggio Module instantly generates cycling arpeggiated phrases and sustained note runs, trills, and chord evolutions. Users can play these arpeggios in real time and restrict them to scales and patterns. The Expression Release system creates a natural sounding note decay whenever a key is released. This works even if the played articulation includes recorded dynamic changes as found in crescendos or swells.

SYMPHONY SERIES – WOODWIND was created in collaboration with the award-winning team at Soundiron – the same team that created NI’s acclaimed SYMPHONY SERIES – BRASS set of scoring instruments.
